Joseph McLaughlin is the Founder and Managing Partner of Capstone Realty Advisors. Under his leadership the firm has grown into one of New York’s leading tenant representation organizations, with numerous clients across Manhattan.
A strong champion of tenant interests, Joseph exemplifies integrity, energy, creativity, and thoroughness. He is committed to providing honest, collaborative support for all Capstone clients, from tech startups and non-profits to financial services companies, architectural firms, and media organizations.
His successful career spans more than fifteen years, during which period he has represented tenants and landlords on over one million square feet of transactions. As the principal of Capstone, Joseph has been responsible for meeting Capstone’s own real estate requirements as well.
Notable transactions completed by Joseph have included Daily Motion’s New York headquarters, Lot18’s sublease and relocation of 20,000 square feet, and office centers for America Works across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. Prior to launching Capstone, Joseph worked for several years at the Kaufman Organization and Newmark Knight Frank as a leasing specialist.
Born in Bronx, New York, Joseph currently resides in Rockland County, New York with his wife, where he enjoys playing guitar, driving classic cars and spending time with his boxer Cody. Joseph holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Economics from Oneonta State University and a New York State
Real Estate Brokers License.
Matthew Geery provides real estate advisory and brokerage services to both public and private sector clients. Mr. Geery prides himself in the level of service and protection he offers every client he represents.
Mr. Geery’s primary focus includes lease acquisitions and lease dispositions, lease auditing and strategic development, implementation of occupancy cost reduction strategies and advanced lease renewals for both public and private sector clients.
Mr. Geery began his career with Colliers ABR (now Cassidy Turley) in 2005. Prior to joining Capstone, he was employed with the commercial real estate firm CBRE for five years. He attended the University of Director Georgia and is an accredited member of the Real Estate Board of New York.
As a tenant rep broker, Matthew Kurzban specializes in representing office tenants whose needs are specific to their respective industry.
Educating the tenant on current market conditions, identifying their strengths and weaknesses and anticipating challenges beforehand keeps a tenant informed and ready. Focusing on mid size companies, Matthew has worked with tenants ranging from creative media firms, tech, start-ups, fashion, architecture, galleries and showrooms to the intricacies of recording studio tenants.
A native New Yorker, Matthew is familiar with all sub-markets, building classes in Manhattan. Understanding tenant’s needs, budget and type of office space desired is paramount in gaining a tenant’s confidence. Having closed over 40 leasing transactions in his career, Matthew’s business acumen and instincts serve his customers well especially when timing is of the essence for tenants who trust that a deal will be executed within desired deadline.
Matthew is also a creative thinker, veteran musician and accomplished singer, songwriter/guitarist on the NYC music circuit.
Senior Managing Director
Neil Murray brings more than 13 years of commercial real estate experience to Capstone Realty Advisors. He specializes in tenant representation, financial analysis, lease negotiation and reorganization and backup contingency consulting.
In addition to his Senior Managing Director role with Capstone Realty Advisors, Mr. Murray is a member of the New York Technology Council. He is President of Cardinal Hayes High School Tri State Chapter. Previously with
Murray Hill Properties, he was part of the leasing team for 30 Broad Street, 475,000 sq ft office building near the NY Stock exchange that was brought to 100% occupancy.
Mr. Murray fosters strong client relationships through competitive cost-saving analysis and individualized problem solving strategies. Leftfield Pictures, New York City’s largest television production company, exemplifies these relationships, benefiting from Mr. Murray’s representation at their current home, 460 West 34th Street. Additionally, Eagle Bulk Shipping, Abernathy Financial Services Group, APT Inc., Dreyfus Ashby, Merrit & Harris, SIMCO Engineering, LLC, Vanuatu Maritime, Metzger & Associates and Zalman & Schnurman are all notable representative clients.
Benjamin Saftler is currently an Associate with Capstone Realty Advisors who specializes in tenant representation. He was previously with another tenant representation organization, and has completed a multitude of deals involving different industries, including branding and interior design, architecture, medical, and non-profit uses. Ben continues to develop and sustain relationships in other industries as well.
A graduate of Indiana University and member of their Alumni Group, he is a volunteer and tremendous supporter of Habitat for Humanity.
Once captain of the New Rochelle, NY high school tennis team, Ben is an avid New York sports fan and enjoys playing tennis and golf.
Ryan Slattery joined the Capstone family in September after spending the summer in Brooklyn working on investment sales of industrial properties. Slattery continually stays up to date on submarket trends within Manhattan and outer boroughs. His love for real estate is surpassed only by his responsibilities as a fiduciary and drive to leverage the most advantageous outcomes for his clients.
Slattery works closely with numerous gallery owners, managers and designers both in and out of office space leasing. His insights into the needs of tech, design, artistic and architectural industries has allowed Slattery to be a useful asset for finding firms the right space for them in the city and the outer boroughs.
In 2015, Drew became the newest addition to the Capstone team. Working diligently under Joe Mclaughlin and Brian Wilson, Drew has immersed himself in Manhattan commercial real estate research and is focusing on tenant representation.
Drew’s interpersonal skills allow him to effectively communicate with his clients in order to develop an understanding of their unique requirements.
Drew graduated from High Point University where he earned a degree in business administration and a minor in Anthropology. In his spare time he enjoys traveling, snowboarding, and spending time with friends and family.
Brian Wilson has an extensive background in commercial real estate. He began his career with Cushman & Wakefield as a Real Estate Manager managing portfolios of various types of commercial buildings including biotech, R&D, office, and retail. This experience gives him the unique perspective of having worked with tenants in multiple phases of the leasing life-cycle including the acquiring of a space, as well as the administering of the lease throughout a tenant’s time in the building. He has experience working with many industries in New York City, ranging from general office to specialty uses, including Film and TV production and Educational Services.
Brian graduated from the University of San Diego with a degree in Business Economics. When not working, he enjoys outdoor activities such as fly-fishing and beach related exploits.
Growing up in a Boston suburb, Ina Donath moved to New York shortly after graduating from college to further her career.
Having spent over 30 years in the apparel industry, she understands the importance of creating an allure that captures a client, the significance of location, and the need to achieve a client’s desired results. Fortunately, her career allowed her to travel to many wonderful parts of the world.
When not working, she enjoys going to the theater when she can. She also loves music and has an incredible group of friends who share similar interests. With a passion for cooking and entertaining, her home is a gathering place for good friends, good times, and good cheer.
Christina is the newest addition to Capstone providing administrative and marketing support to the team. She attends to basic office functions and assists with the firm ‘s marketing operations. To keep well-informed about real estate, she combs The Real Deal, Crain’s New York Business, and other publications on a daily basis. Previously she worked with the residential brokerage firm Ferguson Realty in Midtown Manhattan where she provided administrative and accounting duties.
Christina graduated from the City College of New York where she received her BA in Electric Design and Multimedia and minored in publishing and editing.
She currently lives in St. Albans, NY with her husband, two cats and lovebird. In her spare time she enjoys painting, yoga and writing short stories.
