Joseph P. McLaughlin
Founder and Managing Partner
Joseph McLaughlin is the Founder and Managing Partner of Capstone Realty Advisors. Under his leadership the firm has grown into one of New York’s leading tenant representation organizations, with numerous clients across Manhattan.
A strong champion of tenant interests, Joseph exemplifies integrity, energy, creativity, and thoroughness. He is committed to providing honest, collaborative support for all Capstone clients, from tech startups and non-profits to financial services companies, architectural firms, and media organizations.
His successful career spans more than fifteen years, during which period he has represented tenants and landlords on over one million square feet of transactions. As the principal of Capstone, Joseph has been responsible for meeting Capstone’s own real estate requirements as well.
Notable transactions completed by Joseph have included Daily Motion’s New York headquarters, Lot18’s sublease and relocation of 20,000 square feet, and office centers for America Works across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. Prior to launching Capstone, Joseph worked for several years at the Kaufman Organization and Newmark Knight Frank as a leasing specialist.
Born in Bronx, New York, Joseph currently resides in Rockland County, New York with his wife, where he enjoys playing guitar, driving classic cars and spending time with his boxer Cody. Joseph holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Economics from Oneonta State University and a New York State Real Estate Brokers License.
Matthew B.A. Geery
Matthew Geery provides real estate advisory and brokerage services to both public and private sector clients. Mr. Geery prides himself in the level of service and protection he offers every client he represents.
Mr. Geery’s primary focus includes lease acquisitions and lease dispositions, lease auditing and strategic development, implementation of occupancy cost reduction strategies and advanced lease renewals for both public and private sector clients.
Mr. Geery began his career with Colliers ABR (now Cassidy Turley) in 2005. Prior to joining Capstone, he was employed with the commercial real estate firm CBRE for five years. He attended the University of Director Georgia and is an accredited member of the Real Estate Board of New York
Brian Wilson has an extensive background in commercial real estate. He began his career with Cushman & Wakefield as a Real Estate Manager managing portfolios of various types of commercial buildings including biotech, R&D, office, and retail.
This experience gives him the unique perspective of having worked with tenants in multiple phases of the leasing life-cycle including the acquiring of a space, as well as the administering of the lease throughout a tenant’s time in the building. He has experience working with many industries in New York City, ranging from general office to specialty uses, including Film and TV production and Educational Services.
Brian graduated from the University of San Diego with a degree in Business Economics. When not working, he enjoys outdoor activities such as fly-fishing and beach related exploits.
Senior Managing Director
Neil Murray brings more than 13 years of commercial real estate experience to Capstone Realty Advisors. He specializes in tenant representation, financial analysis, lease negotiation and reorganization and backup contingency consulting.
In addition to his Senior Managing Director role with Capstone Realty Advisors, Mr. Murray is a member of the New York Technology Council. He is President of Cardinal Hayes High School Tri State Chapter. Previously with
Murray Hill Properties, he was part of the leasing team for 30 Broad Street, 475,000 sq ft office building near the NY Stock exchange that was brought to 100% occupancy.
Mr. Murray fosters strong client relationships through competitive cost-saving analysis and individualized problem solving strategies. Leftfield Pictures, New York City’s largest television production company, exemplifies these relationships, benefiting from Mr. Murray’s representation at their current home, 460 West 34th Street. Additionally, Eagle Bulk Shipping, Abernathy Financial Services Group, APT Inc., Dreyfus Ashby, Merrit & Harris, SIMCO Engineering, LLC, Vanuatu Maritime, Metzger & Associates and Zalman & Schnurman are all notable representative clients.
Ina is a detail-oriented professional specializing in retail and office leasing in Manhattan. Helping clients find their “ideal” space and guiding them, gives her great pleasure. Whether you are a start-up, seasonal operator or expanding your business, Ina will help you smoothly navigate through the process. Some of Ina’s notable clients include: Davey’s Ice Cream, Poke Inn, Boundless Plain Espresso, Darwin Health and The Financial Gym.
Having spent many years in the apparel industry, she understands the importance of creating an allure that captures a client and the need to achieve a client’s desired results. In the process, she will assist you with establishing the parameters for your business search: determining the location, size and budget plan.
When not working, Ina enjoys going to the theater and live music; and she shares these interests with her incredible group of friends. With a passion for cooking and entertaining, her home is a gathering place for good friends, good times and good cheer.
In 2015, Drew became the newest addition to the Capstone team. Working diligently under Joe Mclaughlin and Brian Wilson, Drew has immersed himself in Manhattan commercial real estate research and is focusing on tenant representation.
Drew’s interpersonal skills allow him to effectively communicate with his clients in order to develop an understanding of their unique requirements.
Drew graduated from High Point University where he earned a degree in business administration and a minor in Anthropology. In his spare time he enjoys traveling, snowboarding, and spending time with friends and family.
As a tenant rep broker, Matthew Kurzban specializes in representing office tenants whose needs are specific to their respective industry. Educating the tenant on current market conditions, identifying their strengths and weaknesses and anticipating challenges beforehand keeps a tenant informed and ready.
Focusing on mid size companies, Matthew has worked with tenants ranging from creative media firms, tech, start-ups, fashion, architecture, galleries and showrooms to the intricacies of recording studio tenants.
A native New Yorker, Matthew is familiar with all sub-markets, building classes in Manhattan. Understanding tenant’s needs, budget and type of office space desired is paramount in gaining a tenant’s confidence. Having closed over 40 leasing transactions in his career, Matthew’s business acumen and instincts serve his customers well especially when timing is of the essence for tenants who trust that a deal will be executed within desired deadline.
Matthew is also a creative thinker, veteran musician and accomplished singer, songwriter/guitarist on the NYC music circuit
In 2017, Griffin became a newest addition to the Capstone team. Working diligently under Joe Mclaughlin, Griffin has immersed himself in Manhattan commercial real estate research and focusing on tenant representation.
Griffin’s interpersonal skills allow him to effectively communicate with his clients in order to develop an understanding of their unique requirements.
Griffin graduated from Trinity College where he majored in Urban Studies. In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf.
Director of Investment Properties
Michael McBride is a 10-year veteran in commercial real estate who is highly goal-oriented and who has consistently exceeded client expectations. Mr. McBride is an analytical expert in property development and re-purposing specializing in northern Manhattan as well as the emerging markets in the Bronx.
Prior to his real estate career, from 1995 to 2010, Mr. McBride was a vice president of Sharp Decisions Inc. where he provided data processing consulting services to New York fortune 100 financial entities. Clients included: Shearson Lehman, Lehman Brothers, Goldman Sachs, Spear Leeds Kellogg and Bear Stearns. A few key projects were the divestiture of Shearson and Lehman and the development of a front office over the counter trading system for Troster Singer, a Spear Leeds Kellogg subsidiary.
Mr. McBride received his B.S. from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in in Daytona Beach Florida in Aeronautical Science.
In 2018, Steven Han became the newest addition to the Capstone team.
Prior to joining Capstone, Steven worked as an Investment Sales Broker at One Commercial Real Estate. Steven also worked for many years as a Currency Trader for Citibank, as well as a NY based hedge fund. Additionally, Steven has a background in insurance sales with New York Life Insurance Company.
Working diligently under Joe McLaughlin, Steven has immersed himself in tenant representation and Manhattan market research. Steven’s interpersonal skills allow him to effectively communicate with his clients in order to help them meet their office space requirements.
Steven graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, where he majored in Economics.
Marketing Administrative Assistant
Christina provides administrative and marketing support for the Capstone team. She tends to the daily office functions, management and marketing operations. To keep well-informed about real estate, she combs through The Real Deal, Crain’s New York Business and other real estate publications. Before joining Capstone, she worked with the residential brokerage firm Ferguson Realty in Midtown Manhattan where she provided administrative and accounting duties.
Christina is a graduate of the City College of New York where she received her BA in Electric Design and Multimedia and minored in publishing and editing.
She currently lives in St. Albans, NY with her husband Mark, two furry felines – Nena and Summer, and a chatty lovebird named Peetu. In her spare time she enjoys painting, yoga and writing short stories.
